Economic Hit Man author John Perkins
Introduces new book at College of Marin
Drawing on his experiences, John Perkins, in his new book, "The Secret History of the American Empire," describes the post-WWII era as one that created history's first truly global empire -- mostly through economics, rather than the military. Now we find ourselves catapulted toward a future that appears catastrophic to many people; however, in Perkins's view it offers great opportunities. Identifying corporations as "the most influential institutions on the planet," he challenges us to transform ourselves and the companies that so deeply impact our lives. He presents a plan for creating a world "that will make our children proud of us."
Mr. Perkins will speak on at College of Marin Olney Hall, 835 College Avenue, Kentfield. Parking is available in student lots for a $3.00 fee. Mr. Perkins' new book will be available for sale and signing.
This event is co-sponsored by Marin Interfaith Task Force on the Americas and COM's Students for Social Responsibility. An $8-20 donation, $5 students, is requested. Regular monthly meeting: Just a reminder of tonight's Health Care for All meeting. Added to the agenda will be a clip of Michael Moore on Oprah. Eight of us from HCA-Marin got to see a sneak preview of SICKO in Sacramento yesterday -- it is fantastic: funny, heart-breaking, brilliant. We'll talk about what we will do around the June 29th nationwide opening. I haven't yet been able to find out what theater in Marin is getting it-- if anyone knows, please tell us.

Dr. Robert M. Bowman, Lt. Col., USAF, (ret.) flew 101 combat missions as a fighter pilot in Vietnam and later directed the “Star Wars” programs under presidents Ford and Carter. He is the recipient of the Eisenhower Medal, the George F. Kennan Peace Prize, and numerous other awards. Dr. Bowman ran for President in the Reform Party in 2000 and was the Democratic candidate for the Congress from the 15th District of Florida in 2006, where he ran on a 9/11 truth platform and won 44 percent of the vote. Dr. Bowman founded “The Patriots,” a group devoted to a government which follows the Constitution, honors the Truth, and Serves the People. As part of this campaign, he has been a major speaker at 9/11 Truth Conferences nationwide.

Reese Erlich is an investigative journalist who has traveled to Iran and Iraq five times and has covered the Middle East for 20 years, most recently on assignment for Mother Jones magazine. His new book The Iran Agenda: The Real Story of U.S. Policy and the Middle East Crisis comes out in October 2007.
Peace Studies Scholar Michael Nagler
Michael Nagler is the co-founder and board president of the Metta Center for Nonviolence Education; professor emeritus and founder of the Peace and Conflict Studies Program at UC Berkeley; a core member of Educators for Non-violence; and author of The Search for a Nonviolent Future; Our Spiritual Crisis; and Hope or Terror: Gandhi and the Other 9/11.
